B&N postpones Nook for Android

On July 31 Barnes & Noble told Fandroid that they have withdrawn the version of their Nook e-reader "to allow more time to further test and perfect the application".
When it becomes available, they add, users will have to be in the continental United States before it will even display.
"Because selling eBooks to international customers involves issues regarding international copyright laws, tariffs, VAT taxes, currency conversions, etc., only US and Canadian residents are able to purchase eBooks on the Barnes & Noble website at this time.  This is the most probable reason we have no release date for this program outside of the US and Canada," they state.
When it comes back up, it will only run on Android 1.6 devices.

  • Note: Amazon's Kindle for Android e-reader is currently available for customers in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States. It also requires Android 1.6.
